In the last few years, Cloud Computing has changed both business and academic fields. The main objective of Cloud Computing is to share computing resources among a set of consumers and providers. Also, capitalizing on paradigms such as virtualization, utility computing, grid computing, and service oriented architectures, cloud computing and communications has already changed the way we compute and communicate. The major models of cloud computing resource sharing are known as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Furthermore, in the last few years, there were an unprecedented number of proposed approaches and solutions for each one of these models. We hope IEEE LatinCloud 2014 promotes again fruitful discussions among researchers from the cloud computing and computer networking communities in Latin America. The IEEE Latin America Conference on Cloud Computing and Communications is the premier conference on Cloud Computing for Latin America, which attracts researchers, developers, users, undergraduate and graduate students from the fields of cloud architecture, service development, virtualization, communications and high performance cloud computing. The LatinCloud 2014 is the third edition of a conference that quickly has become the premier forum for discussions of recent advances in cloud computing and communications, virtualization, utility computing, grid computing, service-oriented architectures and software-defined networks for the datacenter in this world region.
